APRIL:
April 1st at 7:00 PM - Black River Audubon Society monthly program: "Barn Owls and Bobwhites: Farmyard Birds and You"
presented by Nathan Stricker, ODNR Division of Wildlife.Program location: Carlisle Reservation Visitor's Center, 12882 Diagonal Road, LaGrange, Ohio.

April 5th - Shreve Migration Sensation: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM,  at the Shreve Elementary School, 98 N. Market S., Shreve, OH,. Peak spring bird migration event includes self-guided tours with experts located at Help Stations in the nearby Killbuck Marsh, Shreve Lake, Brown’s Bog and Funk Bottoms wildlife areas, Ohio’s largest inland natural wetland complex, covering 5,512 acres. Professional workshops, birding, wildlife and wetland vendor displays, pancake breakfast and lunch concessions, as well as children’s programs are held in the Shreve Elementary School. A $10.00 admission ($15.00 per family) includes any or all events and workshops. Registration will open at 7:00 a.m. at the Shreve Elementary School with FREE MAPS to the Help Stations (located in the marsh and at three other sites, all near Shreve). The vendor hall opens at 8:00 a.m.

The Shreve Spring Migration Sensation is sponsored by the ODNR Division of Wildlife; Friends of the Killbuck Marsh, Inc.; The Wilderness Center; Greater Mohican Audubon Society; Triway Local Schools; Shreve Library and Shreve Business & Community Association.

April 11 - 13th - Lake Erie Wing Watch: at BGSU Firelands College, Huron Ohio (off Rye Beach Rd.). Join area naturalists and fellow bird watchers for a weekend of natural wonders. April 19th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM - Auto Tour at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge located at 14000 W. State Route 2, Oak Harbor, Ohio.

April 25 - 28th - North Coast Nature and Art Festival: Rocky River Nature Center. Put a little "spring" in your step and head over to Cleveland Metroparks North Coast Nature Festival. Celebrate the earth's reawakening at this free weekend festival for nature lovers, featuring "The Nature & Art Show" with wildlife art exhibits, organizational exhibits and other nature-minded vendors exhibiting and selling on Saturday and Sunday.

The event also features guest speakers, hikes, a day-long field trip (offsite), live animal programs, children's activities, and more! The festivities take place on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - plus special evening presentations on Friday and Saturday nights. For more information, call 440-734-6660. Hot Dog Luncheon & Snack Bar Fundraiser

at the BSBO Nature Center!

BSBO’s very popular (and tasty) fundraiser is back! Stop out and experience migration at its peak, then stop in for a our hotdog luncheon and snack bar!  All proceeds benefit BSBO research and education!

May 6th at 7:00 PM - Black River Audubon Society monthly program:  "Invasive Organisms: An Underappreciated and Negative Dimension of Globalization" presented by David Benzing, Emeritus Professor of Biology, Oberlin College. Location: Sandy Ridge Reservation, 6195 Otten Road, North Ridgeville.

An Evening with Kenn Kaufman
at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.
In his richly illustrated presentation: Wings of the Imagination: Why We Need Birds, Kenn draws on a lifetime of experiences from Africa to the Antarctic to American back yards, and explores the mysteries of bird life and the ways that they can add to our understanding of our place in the world.

Cost for this event is a $10.00 donation per person. All proceeds to benefit the ONWR Association and BSBO. The fee will be collected at the door the evening of the event.

May 10th & 11th- International Migratory Bird Day - Join the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Magee Marsh Wildlife Refuge and Black Swamp Bird Observatory in celebrating and supporting migratory bird conservation. For IMBD information visit http://www.bsbo.org/events/imbd.htm.
