In the spring of 2005 Kenn Kaufman’s Birds of North America became the first field guide to the birds of the US and Canada to ever to be published in the Spanish language. Guia de campo a las aves de North America is a testimony to Kenn’s commitment to championing the cause of nature. Kenn funded this project himself in the hopes that this book would help to recruit scores of new birders from a-mong the more than 28 million Americans who speak Spanish at home. In today’s world our natural resources are facing countless threats. Kenn’s idea is that the more people we can awaken to the beauty and importance of our natural world....the more support we win for conservation.

BSBO believes in Kenn’s vision. We have entered into a partnership with an organization known as the Sonoran Joint Venture (SJV) to distribute copies of Kenn’s Spanish language bird guide to people across the southwestern US and northern Mexico. The SJV is a partnership of organizations and individuals striving to conserve the unique birds and habitat of this region. • BSBO then ships the books to our partners are SJV to be distributed to people such as teachers, naturalists, environmental educators, and youth groups.
