Bird-safe/Birder-friendly Communities

In order to help make northwest Ohio communities safer for birds and more appealing to birders, BSBO has developed a new Bird-safe / Birder-friendly Community program. This long-term, multi-phased initiative will address numerous threats to birds and is hoped to become the model for similar programs across the state.

Position Statement on Feral and Free-ranging Cats

One of the most significant issues in wildlife conservation in Ohio is the impact of non-native invasive species, including domestic cats. Based on numerous studies and research, BSBO supports efforts to encourage pet owners to keep cats indoors and is actively working with local communities to work toward reasonable solutions that benefit birds, people, and cats, too!
