BSBO Lake Erie Pelagic Trips

Picture
10 spots per trip will be held for Ohio Young Birders Club students. The boat capacity for each trip is 40 passengers.
An idea born from the great mind of Mr. Bob Faber, BSBO's Lake Erie Pelagics have become legendary! BSBO's pelagics are relaxed and easy-going. In the more than 10 years that we've been running these trips, not one person has been seasick! We take our time, avoid the rough water, and we always see something good!

The success of our trips has spawned other Lake Erie pelagic trips, offering many birders these special opportunities, and reminding us all that Lake Erie is a precious resource that provides important habitat for birds in all seasons. #ProtectOurLake

Departure is from the Cleveland Flats (the old Jim 's Steakhouse location) at 1800 Scranton Road (click here for a Google Map). We will be guests on the 60-foot, steel-hulled charter boat The Holiday, with a very experienced crew. She will be sailing from the upper flats of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland onto Lake Erie. The Captain and crew of The Holiday are seasoned veterans of Lake Erie, and they've come to love these pelagic trips as much as we do!  The hot lunch provided is super tasty, and the ship is very comfortable.
Picture
All trip departures and itineraries are determined on the day of the trip, based on the weather and lake conditions, by the boat captain. We make every effort to ensure that everyone has a great experience. If the lake conditions do not allow for open water cruising, we will be birding the waters behind the Cleveland breakwater. While we always hope to get out on to the big lake, we can have excellent birding within the breakwater. Keep in mind that if the lake is too rough for the boat, birds will likely be looking for calm water as well.

Refund Policy: We will refund 100% of your total amount for cancellations received 14 or more days prior to the trip departure date and no refunds for cancellations less than 14 days in advance of the trip departure date. 100% refund will be awarded if the trip is canceled by the ship line.
